Sustainable Development Goals

The United Nations in 2015 , adopted in its General Assembly in 2015  an Agenda Called the “2030 Agenda” to end poverty in all its forms. In this regard seventeen “Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)” were established.

Goal 6 in the Agenda is “ Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.” 
 
A key sub component is the provision of safe drinking water to all . Presently around 60% of hthe rural Population  have access to drinking water. The urban figure is only slightly higher.
With respect to Packaged drinking water , the penetration in urban households is estimated at 12%
 
India is ranked 10 , in the top ten producers of bottled water. However, on a per capita basis the potential for growth is  significant
